Join us on June 29th from 6-9PM in the Grand Meeting Room (Room 221) of Gerri C. Lebow Hall (3220 Market Street) to raise awareness and learn more about these issues! Don't miss this opportunity to network, gain valuable industry insight and hear from an esteemed panel of professionals, activists and academics, including:

  • Folasshade Laud-Hammond, Director of Agatston Urban Nutrition Intiative
  • Jessica Humphries, Green Light Pantry Coordinator for Hunger Coalition
  • Andy Greenhow, Minister of Stewardship, Congregational Partnership & Belonging at Broad Street Ministry

On April 1st, 2015 Aahana partnered with GlobeMed at the University of Pennsylvania to host our second Speaker Series event on the topic of Combating HIV and AIDS. The speakers on our panel and our moderator greatly contributed to the success of the event. The panel included Dr. Benoit Dube, Dr. David Metzger, Dr. Michael Blank, and Paul Davis. Waheedah Shabazz-El, a long time member of ACT UP Philly and Human  Rights activist, moderated the discussion. Some of the subtopics that were discussed were the mental affects, stigma associated with the disease, finding a cure, and preventative measures that can be taken.

Aahana's first Speaker Series event was held on Drexel's campus in Mitchell Auditorium on November 4th, 2014. Our knowledgeable panel shared their knowledge about Gender Inequality and Female Empowerment. To help plan and host a successful event, Aahana partnered with The Drexel Student Alliance of the United Nations Association, Students Advocating Against Slavery and Drexel SAFE. Our speakers included Dr. Donna Sabella, Dr. Amelia Hoover Green, Hugh Organ and Raili Roy. Archna Sahay, the founder of Female Founders Network, moderated the event.
